I rise. I rise. I rise.”

I am unapologetically BLACK. If that triggers you, go take a look in the mirror. Ask yourself why, then ask yourself why again. Keep asking until you reach the root issue, then deal accordingly. No matter what you do, don’t get disrespectful.
This started with me centering articles focused on equity and equality, reproductive justice, abolition, restorative justice, and more. I have evolved to sharing my own prose writings as well as some articles shared in my newsletter. I hope to start/carry on the important conversations.

The 80/20 Principle: Prioritize What Truly Matters

In the realm of holistic living, where every choice contributes to our well-being, understanding the 80/20 Principle becomes a transformative mental model. This principle, rooted in simplicity, advocates for identifying the 20% of tasks that yield 80% of the results and giving them precedence in our lives.

Imagine streamlining your efforts to focus on the vital few rather than the trivial many. It's about recognizing the significant impact that a select few actions can have on our overall well-being. In the context of self-improvement, the 80/20 Principle encourages us to pinpoint the activities and habits that bring the most profound positive changes.

Prioritizing what matters most, at first, seems like a privilege, and in some cases — it is. But it is one that you are deserving of. It's not about overwhelming ourselves with an exhaustive checklist but rather about making intentional choices that contribute significantly to our mental and physical health.

Sources suggest that this principle finds its roots in the Pareto Principle, a concept named after economist Vilfredo Pareto. The idea is to discern the critical elements that contribute to our growth, happiness, and authenticity. By embracing this mental model, we pave the way for sustainable self-improvement.

In the pursuit of being 1% better every day, the 80/20 Principle acts as a compass, guiding us toward meaningful progress.
